EAR99 — Export Administration Regulations 99

Definition

A US export classification for items that are subject to the EAR but do not have a specific Export Control Classification Number (ECCN).

Context & Usage

EAR99 covers a wide range of commercial commodities. Most general-purpose IT hardware (commercial servers, switches, NICs) falls under EAR99. Items must be screened against the US Denied Persons List and embargo countries before export. Federal contractors require EAR99 documentation on every PO line for parts deployed overseas.

Examples

  • Dell PowerEdge R740 typically classified EAR99
  • Most HPE ProLiant SKUs are EAR99
