DR Site Tier Options

Hot site: continuously synced, RPO 0 (synchronous replication) / RTO minutes. Identical hardware to production. Highest cost, lowest downtime. Required for SLA-bound critical workloads. Warm site: continuously synced with manual failover. RPO 5-60 min / RTO 1-6 hours. Same hardware tier as production but smaller capacity. Cost-effective for tier-2 workloads. Cold site: hardware on standby, no live replication. RPO depends on backup frequency / RTO measured in days. Cheapest, for non-critical workloads + DR exercise compliance.

Replication Tech Options

Veeam Backup & Replication: most common, supports VMware + Hyper-V + Linux + cloud. Zerto: enterprise-tier, near-zero-RPO journal-based replication. VMware SRM: tight vSphere integration. Dell EMC RecoverPoint: hardware-based replication for PowerStore / Unity arrays. NetApp SnapMirror: NetApp-native. Pure ActiveCluster: active-active synchronous replication.
