RPO — Recovery Point Objective
Definition
The maximum acceptable amount of data loss measured in time — defines how much data the business is willing to lose in a disaster scenario.
Context & Usage
RPO is set per workload during disaster recovery planning. Critical workloads (financial transactions, hospital systems) often have RPO = 0 (synchronous replication, zero data loss tolerance). Tier-2 workloads (file storage, email) may accept RPO = 1 hour. Backup-only protection means RPO = backup interval (typically 24 hours).

- Veeam daily backup = RPO 24 hours
