HP Server Storage — ProLiant Hard Drives & SSDs

Enterprise SAS, SATA, and NVMe drives for every HP / HPE ProLiant server

About Server Storage

HP / HPE ProLiant servers require storage that matches their enterprise-grade build. We stock a comprehensive inventory of HP-compatible SAS hard drives, SATA SSDs, and NVMe drives for the entire ProLiant lineup — from the DL360 and DL380 Gen8 through the current DL360 Gen11 and DL380 Gen11 generations, plus the ML350, ML110, and rack-mount BL series.

HP ProLiant Storage Options

Every drive ships pre-tested with the correct HP / HPE-compatible firmware (HPS, HPK firmware revisions) and in the appropriate drive caddy / carrier for your generation (Gen8/9 uses 651687-001, Gen10/11 uses 870206-001). We carry every capacity tier from 300GB 15K SAS up to 15.36TB NVMe enterprise SSDs.

Mixed RAID configurations are supported across our SAS, SATA, and SSD product lines. Compatibility with HPE Smart Array P408i-a, P440ar, E208i-a controllers is verified before listing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What hard drives are compatible with HP ProLiant DL380 Gen10?

HP ProLiant DL380 Gen10 supports 2.5" SFF SAS / SATA drives in the standard 8/16/24-bay backplane, and 3.5" LFF drives in the 12 LFF configuration. We stock genuine HP / HPE drives with the 870206-001 caddy that fits Gen10/Gen11 platforms. Compatible drive families include EH000600JWHPN (600GB 15K SAS), EG002400JWFTH (2.4TB 10K SAS), MK001920GWUNV (1.92TB SATA SSD).

Do HP servers require HPE-branded drives?

HP ProLiant Gen10 and later officially recommend HPE-branded drives for full Smart Array health monitoring and warranty support. Generic SAS / SATA drives work but trigger "Unsupported Drive" warnings in iLO and HPE OneView. For production environments we recommend genuine HPE drives with the proper firmware.

Can I mix SSD and HDD in the same HP ProLiant server?

Yes. HP ProLiant Gen8 onwards supports mixed SSD + HDD configurations on the same Smart Array controller, though they must be in separate logical drives / arrays. SSDs are typically configured as tier-1 fast storage (databases, VM boot), HDDs as bulk capacity tier.

What is the best SSD for HP ProLiant virtualization?

For VMware ESXi or Hyper-V on HP ProLiant, we recommend mixed-use NVMe SSDs in the 1.92TB-3.84TB range (HPE MK001920GWUNV, MK003840GWUNV). These deliver 100K+ random IOPS and 3 DWPD endurance — appropriate for production VMs and VDI workloads.
