HPE BladeSystem c7000 & c-Class Parts
Enclosure components, ProLiant and Integrity blades, mezzanines and interconnects
About BladeSystem c-Class Parts
HPE BladeSystem c-Class puts servers, networking, power and cooling into a shared enclosure. The c7000 is a 10U enclosure with 16 half-height device bays, 8 interconnect bays, up to six hot-plug power supplies and ten Active Cool fans, managed by one or two Onboard Administrator modules. The smaller c3000 is a 6U enclosure that holds eight half-height blades. HPE has moved new blade deployments to Synergy, so existing c-Class estates are maintained with spares.
What this lineup covers
- Blades: ProLiant BL460c from G1 through Gen10, plus other ProLiant and Integrity blades
- Enclosure parts: Onboard Administrator modules, power supplies, Active Cool fans and LCD panels
- Mezzanine cards: Ethernet, FlexFabric and Fibre Channel adapters that plug into the blades
- Interconnects: Virtual Connect Flex-10 and FlexFabric modules, Ethernet and Fibre Channel switches, and pass-thru modules
- Blade components: processors, memory, system boards and controllers listed for specific BL models
Before you order
- Mezzanine-to-bay mapping. A blade's onboard network ports and each mezzanine slot connect through the midplane to specific interconnect bays. A mezzanine card only carries traffic if a compatible module sits in the bays its slot maps to, so check the port-mapping table in HPE's documentation for your blade before adding a card.
- Generation matters. Mezzanine and network options, memory and processors are generation-specific. Match the blade model and generation shown on the pull tab or in the Onboard Administrator.
- Enclosure-specific parts. Power supplies, fans and Onboard Administrator modules belong to a particular enclosure. Order them by the part numbers of your enclosure.
Send us the part number and blade model and we will confirm the exact match.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many blades fit in an HPE c7000 enclosure?
Sixteen half-height blades or eight full-height blades, or a mix of the two, in a 10U enclosure. The c7000 also has eight interconnect bays for switches, Virtual Connect modules or pass-thru modules.
What is the difference between the c7000 and the c3000?
The c7000 is the 10U data-centre enclosure with 16 half-height device bays and 8 interconnect bays. The c3000 is a 6U enclosure for smaller sites with 8 half-height bays and 4 interconnect bays. Enclosure parts such as power supplies, fans and Onboard Administrator modules are specific to each enclosure, so order them by the enclosure's part numbers.
What does HP Virtual Connect do?
Virtual Connect modules sit in the interconnect bays and present the blades to the LAN and SAN through a managed pool of server identities (MAC addresses and WWNs), so a blade can be replaced without changing the upstream network or SAN configuration. Flex-10 and FlexFabric modules also divide a 10Gb port into multiple FlexNICs.
Is HPE BladeSystem still sold?
HPE has moved new blade deployments to HPE Synergy, and BladeSystem c-Class hardware is now maintained largely through spares. Check HPE's support site for the support status of your specific enclosure and blades.
