HP Server Network Cards — ProLiant NICs & FlexibleLOM

HPE-branded Ethernet adapters for every ProLiant generation

About Server Network Cards

HPE ProLiant servers use a unique FlexibleLOM architecture that separates the network adapter from the motherboard — giving you the freedom to choose 1GbE, 10GbE, or 25GbE connectivity without replacing the entire server board. We carry the full lineup of HPE-branded Ethernet adapters, from the entry-level 331i quad-port 1GbE to the high-performance 640SFP28 dual-port 25GbE.

All our HPE NICs carry genuine HP spare part numbers (e.g., 789897-001, 817709-B21, 727055-B21) and are fully compatible with iLO monitoring and HPE firmware updates. This ensures zero compatibility warnings in the Integrated Lights-Out management console and full support for HP Smart Array and Agentless Management features.

Popular HPE Server Network Adapters

  • Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 331i (665240-B21) — embedded NIC for DL360/DL380 Gen8-Gen9
  • Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 533FLR-T (700759-B21) — FlexibleLOM 10GBASE-T for Gen9/Gen10
  • Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ (665249-B21) — popular SFP+ adapter for iSCSI/NFS
  • Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port 640SFP28 (817753-B21) — Gen10/Gen10+ 25GbE standard
  • InfiniBand HDR100 MCX653106A (P06251-B21) — 100Gb for HPC clusters

Need to identify your current NIC? Run ilorest list --type HpeNetworkAdapter from iLO or check the Network Adapters section in iLO5. Contact our team with the output for a guaranteed-compatible replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a FlexibleLOM in HP ProLiant servers?

FlexibleLOM (Flexible LAN on Motherboard) is HPE's modular network adapter slot built into ProLiant server motherboards. Unlike a standard PCIe NIC, a FlexibleLOM card sits flush with the rear I/O panel and does not occupy a PCIe expansion slot. You can swap between 1GbE, 10GbE, and 25GbE FlexibleLOM cards to change your base network connectivity without adding expansion cards.

What is the difference between 533FLR-T and 560SFP+?

The 533FLR-T uses 10GBASE-T (RJ45 copper) and works with standard Cat6a cabling up to 100 meters. The 560SFP+ uses SFP+ optical or DAC transceivers. Choose 533FLR-T for existing copper infrastructure and shorter runs. Choose 560SFP+ for data center deployments with fiber optics, lower latency, and lower power consumption at 10GbE speeds.

Can I upgrade the NIC in an HP DL380 Gen10 without downtime?

The FlexibleLOM slot requires the server to be powered off for replacement. However, if you add a PCIe NIC as a secondary adapter, you can configure NIC teaming (bonding) first, then swap the FlexibleLOM during a maintenance window. For true hot-swap networking, consider HPE Synergy with Virtual Connect fabric modules.
