Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mix different wattage PSUs in a server?

Most enterprise servers require matched PSU pairs for redundancy. Mixing wattages will cause the server to run in non-redundant mode or refuse to boot. Always replace with the exact same wattage and part number as your existing PSU.

What does hot-swap mean for power supplies?

Hot-swap means you can remove and replace a power supply while the server is running — zero downtime. In a redundant configuration (2 PSUs), one PSU powers the server while you swap the other. The server never loses power during the replacement.
