HPE Aruba 2930F Series Switches

The 2930F is the volume campus access switch in the Aruba range — the one that actually populates wiring closets. It is a sensible default where you need managed access with PoE+ for phones, access points and cameras, without paying for aggregation-tier capability you will not use.

How the variants differ

• Port count — 24 and 48 port models
• PoE — PoE+ and non-PoE versions of the same port counts
• Uplinks — variants differ in uplink type, including 1G SFP and 10G SFP+ options

Those variants share very similar model names, which is exactly why ordering by series alone goes wrong so often. The uplink and PoE configuration is baked into the part number, not selectable afterwards.

Routing tier and stacking

The 2930F provides a limited routing capability appropriate to an access switch — enough for basic inter-VLAN work, not a substitute for a proper Layer 3 aggregation switch. If you need full routing, the 3810M is the correct tier.

It supports Virtual Switching Framework stacking, which lets multiple physical switches be managed as one logical unit over front-panel ports. Member limits and supported topologies depend on model and firmware.
