10GbE / 25GbE PCIe Network Adapters

Intel X710, Mellanox ConnectX, Broadcom NetXtreme-E for high-throughput servers

About PCIe 10GbE / 25GbE Network Adapters

10GbE and 25GbE PCIe network adapters are the connectivity backbone of modern virtualization, hyperconverged, and storage clusters. Pro Disk Network stocks Intel X710 / E810, Mellanox ConnectX-3 / ConnectX-4 / ConnectX-5, Broadcom NetXtreme-E (BCM57414 / BCM57810), and Chelsio T6 adapters in 2-port and 4-port SFP+ (10GbE) and SFP28 (25GbE) form factors.

These cards support hardware offload for VXLAN, NVGRE, RoCE v2, and DPDK kernel-bypass - critical for low-latency database, AI/ML, and HPC workloads. For VMware ESXi, every card we list ships with the certified driver bundle in the box or as a documented download.

Most-Stocked SKUs

  • Intel X710-DA2 - 2-port 10GbE SFP+ PCIe Gen3 x8, sweet spot for VMware hosts
  • Intel X710-DA4 - 4-port 10GbE SFP+, ideal for bandwidth-aggregated SAN connectivity
  • Intel E810-CQDA2 - 2-port 100GbE QSFP28, PCIe Gen4 x16, NVMe-over-Fabrics
  • Mellanox MCX4121A-ACAT - 2-port 25GbE SFP28 ConnectX-4 Lx, RoCE-capable
  • Mellanox MCX556A-EDAT - 2-port 100GbE QSFP28 ConnectX-5, GPU-direct RDMA
  • Broadcom P210p - 2-port 10GbE BASE-T copper, no optics needed

OEM-equivalent versions (HPE 640SFP28, Dell QLogic-rebadged, Lenovo ThinkSystem variants) are also stocked. We can verify firmware version and PCIe slot compatibility before shipping - especially important for Dell PowerEdge / HPE ProLiant Gen10+ servers which validate card authenticity at boot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these adapters compatible with VMware ESXi / vSphere?

Yes. Intel X710/E810, Mellanox ConnectX-4/5, and Broadcom NetXtreme-E are all on the VMware HCL. Drivers are included on the VMware installation ISO from vSphere 6.7+, with current drivers downloadable from VMware’s site. We can match you to the exact firmware version your ESXi build requires.

Will an HPE-branded Mellanox card work in a Dell PowerEdge?

Physically yes (same Mellanox silicon), but Dell’s iDRAC may flag the card as "non-OEM" and refuse to update firmware. For best management integration, match the card brand to the server brand: HPE-branded for HPE ProLiant, Dell-branded for PowerEdge.

Do you stock 25GbE breakout cables (1x QSFP28 to 4x SFP28)?

Yes. Both passive DAC breakout (3m and 5m) and active optical breakout (10m and 20m). See our DAC / QSFP+ pages for details.

What is the difference between PCIe Gen3 x8 and Gen4 x8 for these cards?

A PCIe Gen3 x8 slot delivers 7.88 GB/s in each direction - more than enough for a single 25GbE port (~3.1 GB/s) or a 100GbE port (~12.5 GB/s, which would be Gen4 x16). For 100GbE single-port operation, ensure the slot is Gen4 x16 (or Gen3 x16 in compatibility mode). Dell PowerEdge R740 / R740xd has Gen3 x16 slots; R750 / R760 has Gen4 x16.
