Laptop Motherboards — OEM System Boards

Exact-model replacement boards — laptop motherboards are chassis-specific, never universal

About Laptop Motherboards

Unlike a desktop, there is no such thing as a "generic" laptop motherboard — every notebook system board is designed for one specific chassis, and the CPU socket, display connector, and port layout are all custom to that model. We stock OEM laptop system boards for Dell, HP, Toshiba, IBM/Lenovo, and Gateway notebooks, identified by the exact model and part number the board was pulled from — from Dell Latitude and Studio XPS to HP Pavilion and ThinkPad Z-series boards.

What Matters When Ordering

  • Exact model match — a board for a "Pavilion dv9000 Series" or "ThinkPad Z60T" is validated for that model family, not laptops in general
  • CPU socket / integrated processor — some laptop boards ship with the CPU soldered on and pre-installed; others are a bare socketed board ("without CPU")
  • Full-featured (FF) vs standard boards — some HP listings distinguish "full-featured" boards with additional onboard components from stripped-down variants; confirm which your original board was
  • Integrated vs discrete graphics — a board with integrated graphics is not a drop-in replacement for one with a discrete GPU chip, and vice versa

Because fitment is model-specific, ordering by your notebook's exact model number (and the part number on your failed board's label, if visible) is the only reliable way to get a working match. Send us your laptop's model number and we will confirm the correct board before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a motherboard from a different laptop model that "looks similar"?

Generally no. Even within the same product line — say, different Latitude or Pavilion generations — screw hole positions, port layouts, display connectors, and BIOS can all differ enough that a board from a similar-looking model will not fit or boot correctly. Match the exact model number, not just the visual chassis.

Does the replacement board come with a CPU?

It depends on the listing — some laptop boards have the processor soldered on and included, others are bare boards requiring you to transfer your existing CPU (only possible on socketed, non-soldered designs). Check the listing description, or ask us, before ordering if this matters for your repair.

My laptop has integrated graphics — does that limit my board options?

Yes. A system board with integrated (onboard) graphics cannot simply be swapped for a board with a discrete GPU chip, or vice versa — the graphics are physically part of the board, not a removable card in a notebook. Order the board configuration matching your laptop's original graphics setup.
