DL360 Gen10 Overview
The HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 is a 1U rack server designed for compute-dense environments where rack space is at a premium. It supports:
- 2× Intel Xeon Scalable 1st or 2nd Generation (Skylake-SP or Cascade Lake-SP, LGA3647 socket)
- 24 DIMM slots (12 per CPU) — DDR4 RDIMM, LRDIMM, or 3DS LRDIMM
- Up to 10× 2.5" SFF hot-plug bays (SAS/SATA/NVMe depending on backplane)
- 800W or 500W Platinum Flex Slot power supplies (redundant 2×)
- HPE iLO 5 out-of-band management
The DL360 Gen10 was launched in 2017, updated to support 2nd Gen Xeon (Cascade Lake) in 2019 via a System ROM update (DL360 Gen10 ROM family U32), and reached End of Sale in March 2025. It remains widely used in production and available refurbished through 2026.

Compatible CPUs
The DL360 Gen10 uses the LGA3647 socket (Socket P). It supports Intel Xeon Scalable 1st Gen (Skylake-SP) and 2nd Gen (Cascade Lake-SP). Third generation Xeon (Cooper Lake / Ice Lake) is NOT supported — it uses a different socket (LGA4189).

BIOS requirement: To run Cascade Lake CPUs, the DL360 Gen10 System ROM (family U32) must be updated to a version that supports 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable. Confirm the current System ROM version via iLO before ordering Cascade Lake CPUs. Mixing 1st and 2nd Gen Xeon in the same server is not supported.

Compatible Memory
The DL360 Gen10 supports DDR4 ECC RDIMM, LRDIMM, and 3DS LRDIMM. DDR4-2933 is only achievable with 1 DIMM per channel; with 2 DIMMs per channel, the system downclock to DDR4-2666.

Population Rules Summary
- Always populate slot 1 of each channel first (A1, B1, C1... not A2)
- Balance memory identically across CPU 1 and CPU 2
- Do not mix RDIMM and LRDIMM

Drive Options
The DL360 Gen10 supports up to 10× 2.5" SFF hot-plug bays. The backplane type determines which drive interfaces are available — this is set at order time and is not field-convertible without a backplane kit.

Most production DL360 Gen10 deployments use 2× 800W Platinum PSUs. If one PSU fails (amber LED on PSU rear, iLO fault logged), replace with the matching 800W model. PSUs are hot-plug — no server downtime required.

Fans
The DL360 Gen10 uses up to 7 hot-plug fans in a redundant N+1 configuration. The high-performance option is the HPE DL360 Gen10 High Performance Fan Kit (871244-B21). A failed fan triggers an iLO alert and may cause the server to increase fan speeds on all remaining fans to compensate.
Fans are hot-plug — replace without powering down the server.
