Dell Server Bezels — PowerEdge Front Faceplates

OEM replacement bezels for Dell PowerEdge rack servers

About Server Bezels

Dell PowerEdge server bezels (front faceplates) serve both security and aesthetic purposes in data center environments. The bezel covers the drive bays and front panel, preventing unauthorized drive removal and providing a clean, professional appearance for colocation facilities that require it. Many enterprises and colocation providers mandate front bezels as part of their physical security policy.

Each Dell bezel is model-specific — the R740 bezel will not fit an R640, and a Gen14 bezel will not fit a Gen13 chassis. The bezel typically attaches via snap-fit clips on the left side and a latch mechanism on the right, with some models including a keyed lock for physical security. Lost keys can be replaced with Dell part number 0HD4FM (universal bezel key).

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Dell server bezels interchangeable between models?

No. Dell designs each bezel to fit a specific server model or small family of models. A bezel from an R740 will not fit an R640 (different chassis height), and a Gen13 bezel (R730) will not fit a Gen14 chassis (R740) even though both are 2U. Always match the bezel to your exact PowerEdge model number.

Do I need a bezel for my Dell server?

Bezels are optional for server operation — the server runs identically without one. However, many colocation data centers require bezels as part of their security and appearance policies. Bezels also prevent unauthorized hot-swap drive removal. If your server is in a locked private rack, a bezel is a nice-to-have rather than a necessity.

I lost my Dell bezel key — can I get a replacement?

Yes. Dell uses a universal bezel key across most PowerEdge models. The key part number is 0HD4FM. One key works for all standard PowerEdge bezels from Gen12 through Gen15. If your bezel lock is jammed, the bezel can usually be released by inserting a small flathead screwdriver into the key slot.
